It’s sister vs. sister in The Huntsman: Winter’s War as Queen Ravenna (Charlize Theron) and her sister Freya (Emily Blunt) just can’t seem to get along, and their arguments lead to dangerous, harmful places.
Long before the evil Queen Ravenna (Theron) was thought vanquished by Snow White’s blade, she watched silently as her sister, Freya (Blunt), suffered a heartbreaking betrayal and fled their kingdom. With Freya’s ability to freeze any enemy, the young ice queen has spent decades in a remote wintry palace raising a legion of deadly huntsmen – including Eric (Chris Hemsworth) and warrior Sara (Jessica Chastain) – only to find that her prized two defied her one demand: Forever harden your hearts to love.
While there may be some familiar faces on the cast list, it is all change in the director’s chair as Cedric Nicolas-Troyan is at the helm this time around. The Huntsman: Winter’s War will mark the feature film directorial debut for Nicolas-Troyan, who received an Oscar nomination for visual effects for the original film.
